JennyLingo uses cookies strictly necessary for the website and platform to function correctly. This page explains which cookies we set, why, and how you can control them — in accordance with the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They allow websites to remember your preferences and settings, and in some cases collect anonymous data to help improve services.

Cookies we use

We use only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies.

  • NEXT_LOCALE

Stores the language you selected so every page loads in your preferred language.

    Duration: 30 days

  • auth_token

Authenticates your session when you are logged in. This cookie is HttpOnly — it cannot be read by browser scripts, which protects your account from certain types of attacks.

Duration: 1 hour (standard) or 7 days (if you tick "Remember me" at login)

  • user_role

Stores a numeric identifier for your account role (e.g. student or tutor) so the browser can redirect you to the correct dashboard without a server round-trip.

Duration: 1 hour or 7 days (matches auth_token)

None of these cookies collect personally identifiable information beyond what is strictly required to operate the platform. They are never used for advertising or sold to third parties.

Local storage

Your dark or light mode preference is saved in your browser's local storage under the key dark-mode. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

How to control cookies

You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Deleting auth_token or user_role will log you out of the platform. Deleting NEXT_LOCALE will reset the language to the browser default on your next visit.

For more information about how we handle personal data, please review our Privacy Policy.

We use essential cookies to ensure the proper functioning of this website. No tracking or marketing cookies are used. Read our Cookie Policy
